Howard Baldwin, Chairman and CEO of the Connecticut Whale, was the honorary chairman at Monday’s 2011 Circle of Mercy Golf Outing, held at the The Hartford Golf Club in West Hartford. He spoke to the crowd at length about the history of hockey in Hartford dating back to the WHA, as well as his plans for (hopefully) bringing an NHL team back to Hartford. Baldwin gave a great interview to Kevin Nathan of NBC Connecticut last week discussing many of the same points he addressed Monday:
Monday’s event, which boasted NBC Connecticut weather personality Ryan Hanrahan as its emcee for the tournament’s Cocktail Reception and Silent Auction, raised money for The Mercy Community, which offers an integrated continuum of care and services for seniors.
This past winter, Baldwin helped to organize Whale Fest, which was dubbed “a celebration of hockey in Connecticut”. The 10-day festival featured games from all levels of hockey, played on an outdoor ice rink that was set up at Rentschler Field in East Hartford.
