Former New Haven Blade Ray Crew coaching at Sheehan High School during the 1990-1991 season

Ray Crew coached ice hockey at Sheehan High School in Wallingford for 27 seasons, starting in 1977. The Ray Crew Division II Team Sportsmanship Award is given out annually by the Southern Connecticut Conference (SCC) in his honor.

Prior to coaching at Sheehan, Crew played and coached professional hockey for 15 seasons including a three year stint with the the New Haven Blades (1959-1962) of the old Eastern Hockey League (EHL).

He was elected to the Collingwood (Ontario) Sports Hall of Fame in 1984.
