Hayden Named to USNTDP U-17 Team, Erne Traded to Quebec

According to USHR.com, Greenwich native John Hayden (Brunswick School) has been selected for the 2011-12 U.S. Under-17 Team. Hayden, a forward, recently completed his sophomore year at Brunswick, posting a 21-9-30 line in 26 games.

In other news, Branford native Adam Erne’s QMJHL rights were traded by the Halifax Mooseheads to the Quebec Remparts in exchange for a second round pick (2012) and two first round picks (2013, 2014). The transaction will apparently be made official as of August 1st, which is the opening date of the next QMJHL trading period. Erne was originally drafted by Halifax with 22nd overall pick in the 2011 QMJHL Draft.

Whether Erne is planning on playing in The Q next season or not is still a mystery. At this point, one would think that all signs are pointing to yes he will be, as that is a good sized haul of draft picks that Quebec gave up for a player who, technically, hasn’t committed to them. Stay tuned…

Hall of Famer Patrick Roy is currently the co-owner, general manager, and head coach of the Quebec Remparts.
