Rence Coassin (Hamden, Choate) scored as Harvard got its first win of the year, 4-2 over Colgate. Glastonbury’s Steve Michalek (Loomis Chaffee) got the win in net for the Crimson, the first of his collegiate career.

West Haven native Michael Pereira (Notre Dame-West Haven, South Kent, Avon Old Farms) was named UMass Athlete Of The Week after scoring 4 points (2g, 2a) in wins over Holy Cross and Northeastern.

Former Choate standout Philippe Hudon has left Cornell University and returned to his home in Quebec to deal with his obsessive-compulsive disorder. Rumors have begun to swirl that Hudon, a fifth round draft pick of the Detroit Red Wings in June, will make the leap to the QMJHL’s Victoriaville Tigres, thus forgoing his scholarship to Cornell.

Congratulations go out to goaltender Randy Wolcott (Notre Dame-West Haven, Avon Old Farms, Hartford Jr. Wolfpack) who kicked out 27 saves in recording his first collegiate win for Fitchburg State College last week. The East Haven native began his college hockey career with UMass-Amherst in 2009-2010. He transferred to Wisconsin-Stevens Point for the 2010-2011 season, before landing in Fitchburg, where he joined fellow Nutmeg natives Jack Vets (Hamden, CT) and Derek Giansanti (Newington, CT).
