In a case of what can be seen as the “rich getting richer”, the 2010-2011 St. Joseph High School boy’s ice hockey team received a pleasant international surprise this off-season. Forward Sander Boroczky, a transfer from Norway, has landed and made an immediate impact at the Trumbull school this season – much to the delight of coach Marty Crouse.
The Cadets offense already had the luxury of returning high-scoring forwards Pat Corcoran (46 goals, 30 assists) and Conor Crouse (28 goals, 47 assists) from its 2009-2010 team that made it to the Division 2 finals. The addition of Boroczky, who currently leads the 2010-2011 squad in scoring (13-9-22), has provided an extra dimension to the offense that has helped ease their transition to Division 1 this season.
Boroczky, a sophomore, previously played for the Norwegian 16U National Team and was that team’s top scorer in the 2009 16U Junior World Cup.
