CT Hockey Throwback Pic: 1983 Enfield/Fermi Hockey

In light of the inaugural season of the Fermi/Enfield co-op boy’s hockey team, let’s turn back the clock to 1983 – when the town of Enfield ruled the high school hockey world in Connecticut with both Enfield High School and Enrico Fermi High school winning state titles:


ENFIELD HIGH SCHOOL RAIDERS
1982-1983 Division 1 CT High School Hockey Champs

Leading scorer (and future NHL player) Craig Janney, along with Steve Palmer and Kevin Meunier, provided the offense to carry the Raiders to their second consecutive state championship, their first in Division 1. (Enfield won the Division 2 title in 1982) For his efforts, Janney was also named Division 1 Tournament MVP.

ENRICO FERMI HIGH SCHOOL FALCONS
1982-1983 Division 2 CT High School Hockey Champs

Fermi, led by All-state forward Scott Kertanis, finished the regular season 12-7-1. The Falcons proceeded to steamroll through the state playoffs outscoring opponents 33-15 in four games, en route to the Division 2 state championship.
