Snow + Hockey: A bad mix for Connecticut on Wednesday

Wednesday, normally Prince Spaghetti Day, is also a pretty good day for hockey action in Connecticut. Well, usually. Yesterday was pretty much a wash. Most (if not all) boy’s and girl’s high school games in the slate were canceled because of the snow currently blanketing Connecticut. Below is a list of some of the games that have already been re-scheduled:

  • LaSalle Academy (RI) @ Hamden – Jan. 27, 6:15 p.m.
  • St. Joseph at Darien – Feb. 15, 2:30 p.m.
  • Branford at Lyman Hall – Feb. 21, 4 p.m.

The La Salle Academy (RI) @ Hamden game is pretty big because the Green Dragons have stumbled a bit in their last three games (1-1-1), causing them to slip in the state rankings.

La Salle, currently 10-2-2, is coming off a rough 7-2 loss at the hands of perennial RI power Mount Saint Charles. Like Hamden, I’m sure they’ll be looking to get back to their winning ways this afternoon at Astorino Rink. That should make for an interesting game.

Other games of note this Thursday include Notre Dame-Fairfield @ #1 New Canaan and Notre Dame-West Haven @ East Haven. All-in-all, not bad for a Thursday. We’ll see how many of the games actually go off as scheduled…

On the girl’s side, a big match-up between New Canaan (8-1-0) and Hamden (9-3-0) is scheduled for this afternoon in Hamden.
