CT Hockey Throwback Pic: 1988 University of Connecticut Hockey

  • Senior Todd Krygier would close out his UConn career with a then-record 200 points (later broken by his brother Bryan). Krygier was selected #16 overall by the Hartford Whalers in the 1988 NHL Supplemental Draft and went on to play nine years in the NHL.
  • The 1988 UConn men’s hockey team was coached by former Norwalk High School hockey standout Ben Kirtland, who also played for UConn, graduating in 1979. Kirtland would make national headlines in 2011 when, as Associate AD at University of Kansas, he was involved in a ticket selling scandal.
