Fairfield Prep alum and current New York Ranger captain Chris Drury paid a locker room visit to his former team prior to their matchup this past Saturday against St. Augustine Prep (NJ). His visit proved inspirational as the Jesuits went on to blank their opponents 3-0

Oklahoma City Barons forward Colin McDonald (Wethersfield, CT) was selected for the AHL All-Star game. In the game, played this past Monday (1/31/11), McDonald assisted on a goal by Grand Rapids’ Illari Filppula.
NOTE: McDonald is the son of former Whaler/Nighthawk Gerry McDonald.

Former Quinnipiac forward Brandon Wong has posted solid numbers so far this season for the Greenville Road Warriors of the ECHL (14-14-28 in 36 games played). Wong began the season with the AHL’s Wolfpack/CT Whale before being assigned to Greenville.

Central Connecticut State University (ACHA D2) hockey alum Joe Dabkowski (Glastonbury, CT) is currently skating for the Danbury Whalers of the Federal Hockey League. He is fifth on the team in goals with 9 in 20 games played. Dabkowski caused a stir back in 2006 after joining the Glastonbury High School team midway through their season. The team was forced to forfeit five wins because he had begun that season with another team (NE Junior Falcons), which is against CIAC rules.
