Jared DeMichiel (Avon, CT), called up from the ECHL on 2/1, got his first AHL win for the Hershey Bears, a 4-2 over the Providence Bruins. He made a second appearance earlier this week in relief of Todd Ford, in a 7-1 loss to Wilkes-Barre.

Ben Smith (Avon, Westminster School) has 7 points in his last 9 games for the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs. Earlier this season, the former Boston College star also had a brief call-up to the Chicago Blackhawks.

New York Ranger captain Chris Drury (Trumbull, Fairfield Prep) is out for 6 weeks after knee surgery.

Goaltender Jon Quick (Hamden, Avon Old Farms) is currently 7-0-1 in his last 8 starts, including a 4-3 shootout victory against Columbus last night.

Stamford native Dan Malloy, who scored the first goal in Danbury Whalers franchise history (10/29 vs NY Aviators), was waived by the team yesterday. Hopefully his father’s proposed tax hikes didn’t have anything to do with it…;-)
