Among the four individuals included in the 2015 class of the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame, are two players with connections here to the Nutmeg State:
ANGELA RUGGIERO – Before embarking on a memorable career at Harvard University and with the US women’s national team, Angela Ruggiero played her prep hockey at Choate in Wallingford.
CHRIS DRURY – Drury is known by many as one of the best high school hockey players the state has ever produced. After a stellar career at Fairfeld Prep, he was selected by the Quebec Nordiques in in the 3rd round of the 1994 NHL Draft. Prior to turning pro, Drury skated for Boston University, where he won a national championship and the Hobey Baker Award, given to the NCAA’s top ice hockey player. After playing 12 years in the NHL, the Trumbull native announced his retirement in 2011.
